Kindergarten Information

Thank you to all of the families who joined us for our Kindergarten Information Night.
You can find the slide show we shared here: WELCOME TO KINDERGARTEN 2025-2026.
We look forward to having you join us in September 2025!
Children will be welcomed to an OPEN HOUSE, IF they did not get a visit in the spring on WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 27th at 10am Sharp! We will provide a brief tour of the kinder part of school and answer questions that you may have arise.
Teachers will reach out to you before the first day of school to let you know which class your children are in and what you will need to bring to school.
Quick List of Items for Kinder:
- Change of clothes! Definitely socks, underpants, pants, shirt.
- Indoor Shoes
- Lunch Bag with multiple items to eat throughout the day
- Reusable water bottle
All items should be clearly labelled. School Supplies are great for children, but please wait for the teachers to guide you on their needs, all supply items will be "shared" within the classroom if sent to school. Please feel free to reach out to your teacher once assigned to ask what they "need".
"Walker" should be brought to the kinder gate at the bus loop entrance between 9am-9:15am. Please bring your child to the gate to an educator, pass the child and walk away. This makes for a quick transition so that children don't have the stresses of seeing you there. Please try to be on time so that there are no disruptions to their routine so they get used to the structure.
Pickup is at the same location between 3:30pm-3:45pm, please make contact with an educator before taking your child. If there is ever a change in pickup "person", you need to contact the teacher early in the day by email and copy our office staff as well alcabsence@ocdsb.ca this will allow us to keep your children safe and with the right "person". All "persons" must be on your emergency contact list.
Please do NOT park in the bus loop, we are a park and walk neighbourhood, please follow the request as it's a very busy location on arrival and dismissal times.
Bussers: The best thing to do for new students is to get your child on the bus starting the first day and continuously during the year. Routine makes for a simple transition. Reminder that during the first few weeks of school, new drivers, new stops, the buses can be late or early or even Miss your stop. Please be patient, you can definitely let us know in the office so we can communicate to OSTA for you. Reminder to be at least 10 minutes early at your stop both ways to make sure you are not missed. Your driver will need some time to get to remember the new route.
Kindergarten is a great new beginning for children to learn their independence, we look forward to seeing your little ones in the halls and their smiles. Please reach out to the kinder staff or the office at anytime you need anything to support your child or family.
All the best to a great year!
