What a week it has been weather wise! Mother Nature certainly kept us on our toes and decided that she would remind us that it is indeed winter. We hope that you stayed safe and warm during the storm, and now we turn to staying safe at school. We appreciate that our JALC families are communicating with us in regards to their health as it relates to student absences. When students attend school in person, we ask that our families vigilantly follow the Ministry screening tool before school starts every morning. We will continue the process of confirming screening until further notice. This helps to ensure that everyone stays well at school and those who may not be well can recover at home.

RAPID TEST KITS: We are preparing the rapid test kits to come home. An email with more information will be coming on the day the test kits are distributed.
TECH RETURN: For those families who have returned the technology they borrowed, thank you very much. If you have not had a chance to send the technology back to the school, please do so ASAP. We would like to be able to get the tech back into classrooms for students to use as soon as we can!
SCHOOL PHOTOS: We received notice today that at this time, Grade 8 and school wide photos have been postponed. We will update families with new dates when we have them.
KINDERGARTEN REGISTRATION- Is your child turning 4 by December 31? Then ALC is ready to welcome you and your child to kindergarten in the fall of 2022! Kindergarten at the OCDSB is a safe, caring and inclusive learning environment where children learn to explore the world, solve problems and make friends. Our full-day, fully-bilingual Kindergarten program offers dynamic, play-based learning supported by a caring team of educators.
Please visit our website for all the information on registration and our upcoming virtual information session on February 3 at 5:30PM. This is the link for the meeting.
The OCDSB has created a central questionnaire where parents can submit questions to the school or the District prior to the presentation. Here is the link. It will be posted on the OCDSB website as well as the ALC website for easy access.
SIR GUY CARLETON SKILLED TRADES INFORMATION SESSION:January 27th, 6-7PM. Attached please find the flier for the Sir Guy Carleton Grade 8 Parent Information evening. The focus for the evening is on our trades based credit program. We would like all of our families to consider trades based/vocational education as a viable option and pathway to graduation.
EDUCATION FOUNDATION- Now, this is a real 2’s day! This year, we get to celebrate Toonie Tuesday on a date that drives home the idea of collecting toonies - 02.22.2022! It’s like it’s meant to be; so let’s make this our biggest year yet!
Last year, we acknowledged that the needs of students had increased due to the global COVID-19 Pandemic. The truth is, the need has increased even more! At the Education Foundation of Ottawa, we believe that “it’s about what kids deserve”, and every student deserves to have the tools they need to be successful. That’s why we’re here. We want to reduce barriers to ensure ALL students can learn confidently. We do this by providing appropriate access to food, clothing, school supplies, healthcare supports, and opportunities for learning and recreation. Donations can be made through School Cash Online or brought into school and put in a donation box at the office.
Please see this letter from Executive Director Clarissa Arthur, that outlines how you can make a commitment to help.
JoJo’s Pizza NIght: Jojo's kick back nights are back again this year! The last Wednesday of each month when you order from Jojo's in Stittsville just mention ALC and School Council gets 25% back. Mention it on the phone or put it in the comment box on an online order. Starting next week January 26th, all day long.
