Monday Morning Minutes November 16th, 2020
Posted on 11/16/2020

Dear ALC Parents and Guardians,

Welcome to this week’s Monday Morning Message.

Daily COVID student assessment

Parents and guardians are to complete the Ottawa Public Health (OPH) COVID self-assessment for every student before leaving home each day.

Please fill in the following Attestation Form if your child/children have been absent due to illness or have been tested.

This step is key to helping keep the virus out of the school.  Please take the time to thoroughly review the screening tool with your child each morning, and follow the directions provided by Ottawa Public Health.

Thank you for doing your part to help keep our staff and students safe and healthy.

ALC November Spirit days

Friday, November 27th is Wacky Tacky day -  Dress as wacky as you like - ugly sweater, clashing patterns, mismatched or inside out clothing.

Bullying Awareness and Prevention Week

From November 15-21, schools across Ontario, including A Lorne Cassidy, are marking Bullying Awareness and Prevention Week. In support of our collective efforts to create a safe, caring and inclusive environment, where diversity is valued and celebrated and care and empathy are shown towards each other, ALC students will be participating in one of two virtual assemblies this week: I Like me Street, a presentation that highlights the importance of kindness towards others and oneself for JK-Gr 3 students, or Make Some Noise, an interactive presentation for Gr 4-8 students that celebrates diversity and respect for individuality.

ALC Emergency Evacuation Plan

Thank you to all of ALC families who have returned their Emergency Evacuation Consent form.  If you haven’t yet done so, please fill out one form per family and return it either by scanning and sending it to Mrs Norton at or by printing a hard copy, filling it out and returning it to your eldest child’s teacher.

Parents are asked to select one of three options for each ALC child as per below:

Option #1 - WALK HOME

Progress reports will be available to parents/guardians via the Report card portal as of this Friday, November 20th.  New families who do not have an account to the Report Card Portal need to create an account to access the reports. Existing families who forgot their password can use the self-serve password reset on the Report Card Portal.  More details, including step by step instructions, can be found on the OCDSB website at:

For all ALC Report Card Portal inquiries, please contact Mrs Norton at

The first of three reports to go home during the school year, Progress Reports provide a summary of progress towards the achievement of curriculum expectations, learning skills and work habits during the first six weeks of school.  It also provides the opportunity for students, together with parents/guardians and teachers, to reflect upon learning and set goals for improvement.  Parent/teacher conferences will take place on the evening of Thursday, November 26th.  More specific details will be forthcoming later this week.
