Monday Morning Minutes March 29th, 2021
Posted on 03/29/2021

Dear ALC Parents and Guardians,

Welcome to this week’s Monday Morning Message. A reminder that this is a 4-day school week;  Friday, April 2nd and Monday, April 5 are both statutory holidays and school will be closed.  Next week’s message will appear in your inbox on the morning of Tuesday, April 6th as a TMM (Tuesday Morning Message), instead of the usual Monday Morning Message.

Daily COVID Student Assessment and Monitoring for Symptoms of COVID-19

Parents and guardians must complete the Ottawa Public Health (OPH) COVID self-assessment for every student before leaving home each day.

Ottawa Public Health link for Attestation form for return to school for a tested/ill child.

Anyone with symptoms must stay home and follow public health directives about testing.  This step is key to helping keep the virus out of the school.  Please take the time to thoroughly review the screening tool with your child each morning, and follow the directions provided by Ottawa Public Health.

Waterproof Boots, Indoor Shoes, a full Water Bottle and Extra Clothes, Please

With the recent rains, our schoolyard is now VERY wet and muddy. We would ask that parents ensure that students have waterproof boots and a rain jacket to wear outside, a pair of indoor shoes to wear in the classroom and gym, and an extra pair of socks and pants for your child to change into in the event that they get wet during recess as we will continue to head outside for recess unless it is raining heavily.

ALC 2020-21 Yearbook

The 2020-2021 ALC yearbook is coming! But this yearbook is like no other. We'll need everyone's help. Parents will be asked to provide a few photos of their child for the yearbook. We hope to include the entire ALC school community in the book: in-school, virtual and home-schooled children. Printed books will be available for the start of the 2021-22 school year. Please start looking through your photos from September onward, or take some new ones. Details will be coming shortly but we'll be looking for a traditional portrait style of photo for a class page, perhaps additional photos of your child wearing their mask, doing remote-learning, studying, reading, dressed up for one of our ALC spirit days, etc. Details will be coming soon as to where to upload these photos.
