Episode 18

Last week Leo Brooks, a professional drummer and drum builder, visited Grades 4/5JS, 5NT, and 5SM. All three classes have been working on build drums out of cardboard builder's tubes. Leo spent time in each class showing kids how to play an African rhythm called Kuku. This episode contains highlights of Leo's visit with 4/5JS.

It's important to get permission from the people who create the songs and recordings before we put them on the internet. I contacted Denise Gagne for permission to use BAGE Blues and Country Swing. She's the author of the recorder book and CD that we are using this year:

Welcome to the portables! Two classes have joined forces to create their very own podcast. We hope to produce shows on a regular basis and give the students opportunity to share their learning with their family, friends, community and maybe even the entire world.

Last May 2006, 5JS, 5NT, and 4/5AG joined forces to put on a live radio show. You’ll hear over 60 kids singing and playing percussion.
